Organic Jojoba Oil
Avocado oil, Persea americana, is an edible oil pressed from the pulp
surrounding the avocado pit. It is rich monounsaturated fatty acids and high in naturally
occurring vitamins A, D, E, lecithin and potassium. Jojoba oil is actually a wax ester, not a triglyceride as its name would suggest. It is a polyunsaturated
liquid obtained from the crushed bean of the Jojoba shrub. Jojoba shrubs are native to the Sonoran and Mojave
deserts of Arizona, California, and Mexico. It is one of the most economically valuable plants of the Sonoran
Desert. Because of the value of the seeds to the cosmetics and biofuel industries the plants are also cultivated
in the semi-arid and desert regions in Argentina, Israel, Palestinian Authority, and Peru. Historically, jojoba
plants were seldom used by indigenous people as a food source but were common in making antioxidant skin healing
salves. Chemically similar to human sebum, jojoba is useful in treating cuts, bruises and burns,
and is an excellent hair and skin conditioner. It is extremely resistent
to rancidity. Mountain Girl Botanics uses jojoba oil in many of
our product formulations, including
Bear Bottom,
Calm Skies
& Lavender Meadow
soaps and in our Lavender & Calendula Oil,
Mountain Earth Salt Scrub,
Mountain Honey Sugar Scrub
and Lavender Meadow Body Moose.

Organic Avocado Oil
Avocado oil, Persea americana, is an edible oil
pressed from the pulp surrounding the avocado pit. Although commonly
classified as a vegetable oil, this plant is technically a fruit as it has a stone. Avocado oil is rich
in monounsaturated fatty acids and high in naturally
occurring nutrients such as vitamins A, D, E, lecithin and potassium.
Despite being a true fruit, avocado oil lends a thick, fatty almost waxy
feel and
is an excellent remedy for healing and preventing skin conditions such as
eczema and psoriasis. It is a perfect oil for dry and mature skin
types. Studies have demonstrated that avocado oil increases collagen, thus
helping to tone the skin. In the culinary world, avocado oil is gaining popularity as an
alternative to olive oil.
Mountain Girl Botanics sources an organically produced,
cold pressed, unrefined virgin avocado oil. Cold pressing preserves
the concentration of naturally occurring nutrients. Review of current
safety data reveals no concerns with safety of use in cosmetics. Find organic avocado oil in our
